Background

Dr. Williams completed her Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology at Stanford University and Masters and Doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology at the California School of Professional Psychology. She has trained and served in various settings specializing in the treatment of trauma related disorders and has also completed two post doctoral fellowships: the Trauma, Addictions and Forensics Fellowship at Springfield Hospital Center and the Trauma Disorders Fellowship at Sheppard Pratt Health System.

She served as staff psychologist with Sheppard Pratt’s Trauma Disorders Program. There, she provided a variety of services such as individual psychotherapy for inpatients and outpatients, as well as consultation services, including diagnostic assessment and treatment recommendations to various treatment units within the hospital and to outpatient therapists. She participated in the Trauma Disorders Postdoctoral Fellowship as a supervisor for group and individual psychotherapy and consultation.

Dr. Williams is committed to culturally sensitive and appropriate treatment and has cultivated professional experiences to foster the development of cultural competence. She has worked with culturally diverse colleagues providing services to diverse client populations in settings such as the Chinatown Child Development Center in San Francisco, CA; Whitman Walker Clinic in Washington, DC; and the Deaf Unit of Springfield Hospital Center in Sykesville, MD. In addition, Dr. Williams served as Assistant Professor in the Graduate Counseling Program at Gallaudet University where she taught and supervised candidates in training to work with culturally deaf and audiologically deaf (D/deaf) and hard of hearing children and adults.
